GBV-Watch Salons aims to empower beauty professionals to become early informers and contribute to identifying and combating domestic violence and gender-based violence. The project seeks to empower them through continuous and lifelong training that enables them to identify victims of domestic violence and gender-based violence, initiate a supportive dialogue and help victims get in touch with the appropriate services.
To achieve this, professional educators in the beauty sector and beauty schools will be involved and provided with a training programme that will improve the skills of professionals (as well as students) to help identify victims of gender-based violence.
In this context, the key components of the GBV-Watch Salons project are:
- develop and implement a comprehensive training programme on gender-based violence
- creating country-specific guides on gender-based violence management for beauty industry professionals
- offering support to change policies in order to recognise and support the role of beauty industry professionals in the fight against gender-based violence.
The GBV-Watch Salons project aims to improve existing screening methods and integrate non-traditional professionals into the prevention framework, filling a critical gap in the fight against domestic violence.
