SdE, the European Project that combines business and sustainability.

SdE, the European Project that combines business and sustainability.

SdE is the acronym for "Sustainability-driven Entrepreneurship", a European Project, funded by the Erasmus+ Program, which intends to create teaching materials on business and sustainability issues, from an economic, social and environmental point of view.

The goal is to provide teachers and students with an useful tool to integrate traditional studies related to business economics with greater attention to environment and people.

Today SdE project concluded its first year of activity with good results, despite the remote collaboration imposed by Covid-19. In fact, the nine project partners found efficient ways to carry out the SdE activities, with monthly coordination meetings and specific focus groups on different aspects of the project, every two weeks.

The process of creating the teaching material is still ongoing and it should be completed by May 2021. In this first year of activity, the training needs of European students and teachers on SdE themes were mapped and the learning objectives to be achieved were set.

From this map we defined the structure of the teaching unit, which will be divided into the following six learning outcomes:

  1. Analyze your strengths
  2. Discover the principles of sustainable development
  3. Discover the principles of life-cycle thinking and the circular economy
  4. Generate, develop and test sustainability-driven business ideas
  5. Produce, present and implement a sustainability-oriented business plan
  6. Evaluate sustainability impact of businesses

For each of the learning outcomes, the SdE teaching unit will be implemented according to the students' skill level (1. Understanding, 2. Applying, 3. Applying in a complex environment), so that it can be adopted in different training paths.

The didactic unit created will be made available on the project website www.sdeproject.eu.

Considering also the growing attention to climate change and social inequalities, the teaching unit of SdE will equip students with the skills to become entrepreneurs of tomorrow, in step with global challenges.
