Due to the situation related to COVID-19, vocational training providers have faced a great challenge. The need to provide online and distance learning opportunities has increased. At the same time, teachers lack the skills and capacity to deliver quality online lessons, and they need training and new tools, especially a network of trained tutors to support their work.

The partners in this project, from Finland, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy, identified the same need to develop the digital skills of their teachers. By developing these skills, teaching will be more varied and more flexible to organize. The goal of the project is thus to strengthen the capacity of vocational education and training institutions to provide high-quality digital education and, in so doing, develop and improve the quality of vocational education.

The activities want to focus on teacher training with the support of peer teachers, and ensure that there are more digitally competent teachers.

The target groups are teachers, students, vocational training institutions, and other stakeholders, such as local businesses, to whom it will bring benefits in terms of know-how on e-learning, knowledge on implementing hybrid and distance learning, and digital skills and competencies.

The development and implementation of blended learning is one of the key competencies for teachers in the development of vocational education and training. The central idea of the SHOW-VET project is that the consortium of training institutions and other partners will develop content, including pedagogical methods for teacher leadership and teacher training materials, to provide training for mentors and teachers of selected fields of study, and to create new e-learning materials. This will lead to the development of a digital teacher-learning model for professional training providers: as a result of this project, these providers will have a new model and tools for implementing the digital teacher training process, including tools for needs analysis and impact analysis.
