COOKIE POLICY

WHAT ARE COOKIES?

Some definitions

Cookies are strings of text created by a web application and stored on the client used by the user to access the Internet (PC, smartphone, tablet, etc.) and then retransmitted when the user accesses the Internet again. Cookies make it possible to collect information about the user's browsing on the Websites, for example, to remember language preferences or the currency used for a purchase. Cookies may be stored permanently on the user's device and may have a variable lifetime (known as persistent cookies), or they may disappear when the browser is closed or have a limited lifetime (known as session cookies). Cookies can be installed by the website you are visiting (known as first-party cookies) or by other websites (known as third-party cookies).

Similar technologies, such as web beacons, transparent GIFs and all forms of local storage introduced with HTML5, may be used to collect information about user behaviour and service usage.

Types of cookies

Based on the characteristics and use of cookies, we can distinguish different categories:

  • Essential cookies. These are cookies that are essential for the proper functioning of the site and are used for session management, login and access to restricted functions of the site. The duration of these cookies is strictly limited to the working session (they are deleted when the browser is closed).
  • Analysis and performance cookies. These are cookies used to collect and analyse site traffic and usage. These cookies make it possible, for example, to determine whether the same user returns to log in at different times. They also allow us to monitor and improve the performance and usability of the system. These cookies can be disabled without any loss of functionality.
  • Profiling cookies. These are cookies that are used to create a profile of the user and then send him or her advertising messages in accordance with the preferences expressed by the same user during previous browsing sessions.

Third party cookies.

When you visit a website, you may receive cookies both from the site you are visiting ("owner") and from sites operated by other organisations ("third parties"). A notable example is the presence of "social plug-ins" or the integration of third party maps. These are parts of the visited page that are generated directly by the aforementioned sites and integrated into the page of the host site. The most common use of social plug-ins is to share content on social networks, while that of maps allows you to locate the activity according to defined geographical coordinates.

The presence of these services implies the transmission of cookies to and from all third party sites. The management of the information collected by these "third parties" is governed by their respective disclosures, to which we refer you.

More information on the types of cookies, their characteristics and their operation can be found at
