You never get bored in kindergarten!

My working day starts at 8.30, as soon as the kids finish breakfast; I am always greeted by a wonderful "Guten Morgen Franzeska", shouted by the older ones, those who after four months have managed to learn this long name. I sit in their midst and within a few minutes I find myself inundated with games and books, which will soon be tidied up to prepare for the various activities. When it's not raining, we rush to the lockers and wear ski pants, sweater, boots, jacket, hat, scarf.. and the little snowmen are ready to go out! They run, play with sand and fight over who gets on the swing first, they roll on the lawn and sometimes they get on the stroller and go into the woods. If instead the day promises rain or simply the cold does not allow us to be outdoors, we experiment, create and paint, giving space to our creativity. At the beginning I was shy, I simply took care of accompanying the children to wash their hands after they had messed with my colleague, but over time I came forward and I started proposing some workshops too, achieving satisfactory results!

Lunch time comes early for the little ones, they run to the bathroom, wash their hands and run to the table. The bib is used only by children under two years of age, "all the others are old enough to eat without getting dirty", so I was told from the beginning, and with such amazement I realized that it is just like that. The children immediately learn to eat alone with the spoon, sitting in an orderly way, so as to get up from the table almost neatly.

After eating my colleagues and I have a specific task, one of us is in the bathroom, between toothbrushes and diapers, the other takes care of cleaning the table and placing the food cart, while I take care of helping the children to undress and order their things on the chairs. When everyone is ready, they go to bed and in the two hours in which the children sleep, we print the photos of the morning and fill out the diaries of each child, organize the workshops of the following days or rearrange the room. At 14 the children get up, some still half asleep, and go to the bathroom, where my colleague is ready to change diapers; instead I wait for them to cover them and make them sit at the table. My working day ends shortly after the snack, when with an echo of "tschuuuuss" children and colleagues greet me.

Some days are demanding, the cold is almost always ensured at this time of year, especially for those who are in contact with such young children, there are days when you should have four eyes to check that nobody gets hurt.. but the smile, the funny faces and the laughter that the children reciprocate, always warm my heart!

Francesca

Young, motivated and eager to find out what Europe can offer them. Caterina, Nikola and Francesca are the 3 young students we selected for the #ErasmusPro, the new Erasmus designed to promote "long-term" vocational training experiences. Thanks to the APRO Training project "WAVES - Sail towards your future", Caterina, Nikola and Francesca are doing their #ErasmusPro in Lipsia for 6 months, from October 2019 to the beginning of April 2020. Each week, in turn, they will send us their impressions.
