Entrepreneurship education has been included in education for many years, at all levels of education. In some countries, such as Finland, innovative forms of entrepreneurship education are being piloted, such as simulated companies run by students with the support of their teachers.

Sustainability, an issue that is increasingly necessary to solve current and future challenges, is not always included in entrepreneurship education, and is therefore not taken into account in entrepreneurship initiatives applied at school level, such as simulated companies. However, it would be important that also those who are thinking about starting a business understand the importance and potential of sustainability.

Therefore, through the SdE (Sustainability-driven Entrepreneurship) project, nine European organisations, monitored by external stakeholders, will develop the contents and pedagogical methods for the teaching unit on sustainability-driven entrepreneurship (15 competence points/ECVET). Sustainability is understood and considered from multiple perspectives: cultural, social, ecological and economic.

The project aims to:

• improve and increase the entrepreneurial competence of students, teachers and trainers;
• increase basic knowledge about sustainability and sustainability-oriented entrepreneurship;
• produce teaching materials and related pedagogical methods to support students in acquiring these skills and competences;
• create and pilot a competition at local and European level, where multi-sectoral student teams solve challenges set by companies.

The project partnership consists of four vocational schools, two higher education institutions, one high school, one company and one regional ministry of education from seven countries (Finland, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Spain).

The main target groups of the project are students, teachers, trainers and local small and medium-sized enterprises.
